The Star newspaper published a story of Princess Caroline of Hanover on 13 February 2007, p2. The headline reads “Jovial kids give princess a right royal welcome”, and is about Princess Caroline visiting care centres for children affected by HIV/AIDS. The Princess is the president of Amade Mondiale, an NGO that focuses on and advocates for the rights and wellbeing of children in developing countries.
The story has a picture of the princess hugging a baby. From the picture it would seem difficult to identify the child. In the caption below the picture, they mention that the princess met the children at the Mapetla Day-care Centre which “provides daycare facilities for children whose family are affected by HIV”.

The child is protected from any form of discrimination as it is impossible to be identified. By not making the child the centre of attention the picture complimented the story by focusing rather on Princess Caroline and the kind of work she does. The picture seems to promote the protection of the child and at the same time manages to capture the participation of children in the story.
