In Notice No. 620 published in Government Gazette No. 44865 dated 15 July 2021, the Minister of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (the Department) published the SABC Bill 2021 (the Bill) for public notice and comment. Media Monitoring Africa (MMA), the SOS Coalition in Support of Public Broadcasting (SOS) and SASFED (collectively, the Organisations) thank the Department for the opportunity of making these written submissions and requests an opportunity to make oral presentations. In this regard, the Organisations are of the respectful view that the matters traversed in the SABC Bill are so essential that oral hearings must be held and trusts that the Department will ensure that this is done in due course.
