Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) has joined the case Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia and Others v Operation Dudula and Others as amicus curiae to underscore the principle that fundamental rights, including dignity, equality, and freedom from discrimination, apply both online and offline. Our intervention focuses on how harmful, xenophobic narratives are spread through digital platforms and how these narratives fuel real-world violence and exclusion. By contributing our media and digital rights expertise, MMA aims to support the Court in recognising the critical role of communication rights in advancing social justice and upholding the Constitution.
