Media Monitoring Africa (MMA), together with the Impact Amplifier are excited to launch the first ever South African based Disinformation Comic Book.

The comic book is the result of the incredible work of 10 Web Ranger ambassadors (between the ages of 12-17 years old)  who came together to develop the comic book that will empower children to combat disinformation and encourage a media environment where children are more responsible and engaged.

The comic book was created as part of the The Understanding Disinformation Drawing in Children project, which started in July 2021. Between July – August 2021 , MMA conducted 6 training sessions with the 10 Web Rangers to introduce them to the project, highlight expectations, as well as to train them on mis and disinformation. As an organization that believes in universal access to the internet, MMA together with partners provided learners with data for training and engagement purposes. With the guidance of MMA staff and cartoonist, Gushwell Brooks, they created the comic booklet.

South African readers can look forward to a colourful, easy to read book with a great storyline, while being introduced to basic understanding of mis and disinformation.
