What is digital migration? A mass movement of wild animals to the electronic media? Or moving from what we have to something better?

Why does South Africa need to proceed with digital migration?

Who benefits from this process? Is it all about money for the media or will it mean big benefits for viewers?

What is the main difference between analogue signal and digital signal?

What will you need to do in order to receive the digital signal?  What are these so called set top boxes?  Like black boxes for the home?  How much will they cost? When can we get them? Will you need a new TV?

South Africa is currently in the process of the digital migration but have South African citizens really been informed about the issues and challenges of this process?

Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) in partnership with the Daily Maverick, the SOS Support Public Broadcasting Coalition together with expert panelists Robert Nkuna (Advisor to the Minister of Communications and a Councilor at ICASA) and  Lara Kantor (Group Executive: Regulatory at ETV) will explore these issues during a live ‘Tweet-Up” this Friday, 24th June 2011 from 11am – 12 pm. Join us in person or on Twitter (#MMAdigimi) for the first of various discussions dealing with digital migration issues.
