Job Advert: Communication Intern

Position: Communication Intern

 

Position Function:

The Communication Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting communication activities and tasks related to various projects and initiatives, reporting directly to the Communication Manager. The intern will also provide assistance in the implementation of other relevant communication projects, aligning with their skills and abilities, as directed by the Communication Manager.


Organisational Structure:

The Communication Intern will report directly to the Communication Manager and collaborate with other team members within the communication department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Implementation:
    • Assist in executing comprehensive communication strategies for various projects.
    • Support the organization and facilitation of communication-related workshops.
    • Engage with stakeholders and provide support in project-related communication activities.
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of public events.
    • Utilise graphic design skills for visually engaging communication materials.

  1. General Responsibilities:
    • Attend regular team meetings, actively contributing to discussions.
    • Conduct media monitoring, including writing commentaries and reports when required.
    • Contribute to social media campaigns and mainstream media outreach.
    • Collaborate with team members on various communication tasks.
    • Edit visuals and create graphic design elements for communication materials.

  1. Support for Communication Management:
    • Assist in drafting detailed communication content and calendars.
    • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities for communication projects. This includes completing the impact tracker on relevant events and projects.
    • Provide administrative support for communication-related tasks.
    • Utilise graphic design skills to enhance the visual appeal of communication materials.


Job Specifications:

  • Qualifications: Post Matric Qualification in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year experience required; however, a passion for communication, a willingness to learn, and proficiency in graphic design tools are essential.

Knowledge / Skills / Attitude:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of communication principles and strategies.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to communication initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
