The Debris advertisement showcases some of their community work, the text talks about an inspirational woman who has started and successfully run a community project in a poverty-stricken area of Missionvale, near Port Elizabeth. The advert is informative about the social problems encountered in this area and many others in the country. It is good to note the work that Debris is doing for the community of Missionvale. It is also a positive indication that a fleet company recognises the roles of women and publicly acknowledges their role women in South Africa. This advert was rated positively because of the work done in this community and the educational role played in explaining the kinds of social problems experience. The sponsorship of sports equipment and playing facilities for children is very important in communities which lack such facilities. It is unclear how sports facilities will benefit women unless the project is practiced in a particularly gender sensitive way. Good interventions may save a future generation of girls in Missionvale, from teenage pregnancy which is associated with higher risks of extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS.
